Apekah Sleep Apnea? Merujuk kepada Wikipedia, Sleep apnoea (or sleep apnea in American English; /æpˈniːə/) is a sleep disorder characterized by abnormal pauses in breathing or instances of abnormally low breathing, during sleep. Each pause in breathing, called an apnea, can last from a few seconds to minutes, and may occur 5 to 30 times or more an hour. Similarly, each abnormally low breathing event is called a hypopnea. Sleep apnea is diagnosed with an overnight sleep test called a polysomnogram, or "sleep study".

Last week, aku did a Sleep Study dekat Shah Alam Specialist (SALAM) after doctor nak determine sama ada aku perlukan operation untuk remove tonsils ataupun guna C-PAP machine. Maka terpaksalah aku overnight satu malam kat hospital. The result, aku mengalami Obstructive Sleep Apnea dan aku dapat AHI score dalam kategori severe.
The AHI is used to classify the severity of your sleep apnea, according to the following criteria:
  • Mild: 5-15 events per hour of sleep
  • Moderate: 15-30 events per hour of sleep
  • Severe: greater than 30 events per hour of sleep
Huhu.. doctor cakap removing tonsils takkan solvekan dengkuran aku nih, maybe hanya dapat improvekan sedikit dari segi breathing. Haha.. kena pakai C-PAP yang harganya RM 8000. Hmm... tak la kot nak beli. Lain solution, kena kuruskan badan. Hmmm... berusahalah! (harap dah pindah Shah Alam nanti dapat join sports sbb ramai kawan-kawan berdekatan)
Patient using a CPAP machine. There are many models of CPAP face masks.

So as for now, continue guna spray dalam hidung yang doctor bagi dan amalkan minum susu tiap kali belum tido (advise dari officemate aku).
